Antimony is used to remove all remaining impurities. Often the image of the wolf is depicted as devouring the king.
Maier uses this imagery often. In the background rises the new King, now refined and resurrected after his slaughter.
The results of the purification are not yet known, the wolf does not symbolize a positive outcome any more than the use of antimony assures the transformation into gold.
It symbolizes the part of the process. No more. No less.
Notes on dealing with an angry wolf. Anger makes more fear. Fear makes more pointless attempts to control a world that is , to quote Alan Moore, ultimately rudderless…Which in turn leads to more anger and that hellarious cycle goes round and round until you get bored of yourself, your bullshit and the bullshit that you create around you.
I think a lot of old texts speak often about 'mysteries that cannot be written' for many reasons, one being the fact that ages past were not very tolerant of different ideas. Secondly though I think because they really couldn't be written. As if any attempts to find the words completely destroy the feeling.
That is one of the main reasons I love music. Somehow the feeling is captured and transferred.
Art is a medium. A living breathing medium.
These images come from a song and what I felt when I heard it and a key it gave me to find my way out.
How to deal with an angry wolf. Listen to The Humbling River.
Let the wolf consume you, let the river take you, surrender to it completely.
This isn't a very large large set of images at all, the main image of this gallery is the site design change. The shoot has come in conjunction with the design change, which has come in conjunction with 2 years that have passed since the first Nigredo images were taken and nearly a year since I first made this site.
A shift from black to white, or rather, that which remains after the black is washed away.
A shift from you to me, or rather, the space that is found where there are no divisions at all.
